Tickle Thy Thoughts Gets Sitelinks!

Tickle Thy Thoughts gets Sitelinks!

To check the sitelinks:

1. Go to google.com or google.com.ph
2. Type the title of your blog say "Tickle Thy Thoughts" or the url "ticklethythoughts.blogspot.com"
3. Your blog should appear and if its got those links as shown in the picture above, then your blog has sitelinks.Congratulations!

I don't exactly know when Google awarded sitelinks to Tickle Thy Thoughts. It could be just recently or it could a few months ago. I lost track! One thing is important, Google sees this blog as "authoritative". Weeeeh! Thanks big G! And thanks to all readers of this blog. (I hope the sudden template change won't cause any problem to this blog's sitelinks)

What are sitelinks? This is what Wikipedia says:

Sitelinks

"Sitelinks are hyperlinks to website subpages that appear under certain Google listings in order to help users navigate the site. The site owner cannot add any sitelinks; Google adds them through its own secret automated algorithms. The site owner can, however, block individual sitelinks, which may be useful if he deems them unhelpful.[1] There are a minimum of three and a maximum of eight sitelinks per site. According to John I Jerkovic, "Every site should strive to get sitelinks, as they imply authority as well as web presence. Sitelinks also occupy additional search results screen real estate, the space that pushes your competitors further down the results page — something to be desired."[2] Sitelinks are also said to appear "on some search results where Google thinks one result is far more relevant than other results (like navigational or brand related searches)".[3]

Search engine optimization experts consider sitelinks to be an important measure of how "trusted" a site is, and accordingly have attempted to deduce what causes them to appear.[4] These efforts have included looking at Google patents.[5][6] According to these patents, sitelinks are derived from user behavior, in particular, the number of times a page has been accessed, the amount of time spent on the page, and from the content of the page itself—whether the page contains commercial transactions, etc.[7] In an alternative embodiment, it is suggested that web-site providers might provide the search engine system with a list of favoured web-pages within their own web-site.[8]xxx "

So how did this blog get its sitelinks? What did I do to get these sitelinks? I really can't tell. I did nothing. I simply write during my free time, share my thoughts, share my reviews of products I use. I guess, no one really knows how to get these sitelinks. The algorithm is not exposed.

Here are my guesses though on how to get sitelinks:

1. It depends on the number of backlinks your blog gets.
2. Template structure might also contribute.
3. Page Rank and Age of the blog might also be factors.
4. The uniqueness of the articles might also weigh.

Anyway, i'm just really happy to get these sitelinks for my blog. How about your blogs? Do they have sitelinks too? Can you share any ideas on how your blog got those sitelinks?

Google Page Rank Update November 2010

When is the next Google Page Rank Update? The last reported PR update was way back in April 2010. Since then no Page Rank Update has been reported. Usually Google PR update takes place after every 3 to 4 months. However, this has not be followed for this year. There are talks of a possible Google page rank update this december 2010. But some webmasters also think that the next PR update might be at the end of November 2010. I will keep you posted on this one.

To verify any PR update you can visit "XENYO. COM" or CHECKPAGERANK . NET and check if your site/blog has a new Page Rank.

Update: It seems like there is a google Pr update going on for November 16, 2010 December 1, 2010. One of my blogs with PR 2 went to PR 0. Other sites are fine, no change yet. Check your page ranks though and confirm if there is any PR update.

How To Detect Fake Page Rank

What's the best way to determine if a website's page rank (PR) is valid? How to detect fake a Page Rank? For old time webmasters, this is not a secret at all. But for the new ones in the blogosphere, this information is significant.

For Webmasters Page Rank is important in search engine optimization or SEO. Although in the past months, there is not anymore that same weight given to Page Rank in terms of search engine placement. Nonetheless, Page Rank still has it's value.

For advertisers, a website's page rank is important. Many advertisers prefer advertising on high PR sites.

Google gives websites their deserved Page Rank based on many factors, but the exact formula or the exact rule on Page Rank-ing is never established. There is no concrete formula in determining a website's page rank. Only Google knows.

Page Rank changes every 3 to 4 months. The last Page Rank update occured last April 2010. However, in June 5, 2010, there were reports of possible Page Rank update.

How to detect a fake page rank? The best way is to install the Google Page Rank Tool Bar on your browser. It's available as a Mozilla Firefox Add on. This is the most accurate, most reliable indicator of a website's true PR.

Another way is to use free page rank checkers online. However, not all of these checkers are fully updated. Thus, you might get inaccurate results. So far, the best online page rank checker is CHECK PAGE RANK dot Net (http://checkpagerank.net). What's nice about this checker is that it tells you right away whether the page rank is valid or forged. Here's the result for my blog http://ticklethythoughts.blogspot.com

Keyword Optimization: How To Get Traffic

Part of the objective of blogging is not simply writing and getting your ideas across, but also getting readers to read what you write. You need readers or visitors or what is called as"traffic".

How To Get Traffic?
There are several ways to get traffic to your blog or website. You can tell your friends about your new blog. You can share your url or website address (http://ticklethythoughts.blogspot.com) via emails, social networking sites like facebook, friendster, myspace, etc. You can also bookmark your site or submit it to directories. You can also promote via word of mouth. But all these require repetition hence are tedious processes. This is where "keyword optimization" plays a significant role. But what is "keyword optimization"? It's basically optimizing your blog/site so that it ranks high in the search results.

WARNING: This post is just a crash course..

How to Optimize?
  1. First you need to choose the keywords you want your blog/site to rank on the SERP (Search Engine Result Placement --Search Engines such as GOOGLE.com, YAHOO.com, BING.com, MSN.com) See image below for the keywords I have optimized for this blog.

  2. Second, make a post/article containing the keywords you have chosen. There is no certain rule on how to write your article so it becomes search engine friendly. But over the years I have learned some tips/tricks which prove to be effective every time I engage in SEO- Search Engine Optimization.
  • Include your keyword in your post title.
  • Mention your keyword at the beginning, middle and end of your post.
  • Mention your keyword a couple of times at least thrice in your post or more depending on the length of your blog post. This is called "keyword density".

    3. Third, Promote your article or blog post. The purpose of promotion is to share your link and create back links. How do you do this?
  • Bookmark your blog post - Digg, Jumptags, Stumpedia
  • Twit your blog post - Sign up for Twitter
  • Comment on Do Follow Blogs. Leave real comments and don't spam or your comments will be deleted. If you want to leave your "active url" on the comment board, just use this code- Tickle Thy Thoughts . Just replace the url and the title.

Organic Traffic
It will take a few hours to a few days to a few weeks to months before you can see results. But this is for a long term traffic. If you succeed, you will be getting "Organic Traffic". What's this? It's the traffic coming from search engines. So even if you don't update or promote your blog actively or visit one chatbox to the other, you are assured of regular visitors from the search engines. Below are some screenshots of the keywords my blog ranks high in the Search Engine.

Like what I said, this is just a crash course. In my next articles I will share to you how to choose your keywords, the high PR bookmarking sites and directories and other stuff about Search Engine Optimization. If you haven't followed my blog, I urge you to do it now or subscribe to my feed.
